Author Interview & Giveaway - Chuck Gleason

What's your book about?
It’s a light romance about two college kids.

Care to share your favorite line(s)?
This scene occurs when Lincoln’s sister, a high school junior, arrives for a college weekend with her brother’s girlfriend Keli:

When Paige arrived Keli was immediately captivated. A sparkly blonde with lots of enthusiasm! “I understand I have a date? Is he good looking? Will I fall in love? Can I kiss him on the first date?”

“Slow down young lady! He’s probably an insecure guy who’s afraid of girls. Otherwise he wouldn’t need a blind date with a high school junior.”

“You’re probably right, Keli. At least you’re being honest with me. I like that about you. Are you planning to marry Lincoln?”

“What did you say?”

“I asked if you were planning to marry my brother.”

“That’s what I thought you asked. I just hoped you didn’t.”

“Well, if we’re going to be sisters-in-law, I want to be in your confidence. Maybe I can conspire to help your campaign.”

What's your next project?
A book titled Fired Angels. It’s a romance about three women trying to start a charter school.

What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your book?
That I liked to write, it is fun and very consuming.

What sparked your interest in your genre?
We’ve been married 63 years and we’re still in love. What else would I write about but romance?

Describe your writing in a sentence.
Blunt and to the point, no frills or useless description.

Do you choose character names or do the characters whisper them in your ears?
Found list of names on line. Picked the name I wanted to fit the character. Last names came from the phone book.

Do you like background noise or do you prefer a quiet space when you write?
I have serious hearing problems so quiet is required.

What are you currently reading?
Just finished The Infidel by Ayaan Hirsi Ali. This is a must read for every American because it explains how Muslims are taught. Usually I read romances because I’m tired of all the bad news. Nora Roberts or Sherryl Woods are favorites.

What question have you always wanted to be asked in an interview and how would you answer it? No Clue.

People think I'm weird because... I don’t care what others think. I enjoy having fun.

Collision Course is a warm loving story about two college kids, Lincoln Comstock and Keli Holloway, who get off on a rocky road to romance.  In their creative writing course, Lincoln trashes Keli’s first offering before the entire class, just to get her attention.  Keli is very sensitive about her creative efforts.  As a consequence, Lincoln has started his romance by shooting himself in the foot.

Lincoln’s persistence pays off eventually as Keli agrees to be friends, just not romantic friends. In their junior year, the friendship endures the student body presidential election in which Keli and Lincoln are actually pitted against each other.  After the election Keli finally agrees to go to the Christmas formal as Lincoln’s date.

Just as the friendship is turning into love, obstacles get in the way. Can their love withstand a  last collision?
Filled with excitement and love, Collision Course is a happy story that will leave readers smiling.
