About the Book:
It’s a good thing Stephen Dorsett is a patient Wolf—especially since his stubborn mate refuses to accept the bond between them. Though she’s run from him for years, he’s determined to show her she belongs at his side. Nothing will stand between him and his sexy, spitfire she-Wolf.

Kate Matthews lives with a horrible secret. And though she’s loved Stephen for as long as she can remember, she could never be the mate he wants or deserves—especially if he ever learned the truth about her.

When hunters threaten the safety of the Black Hill’s Wolves pack, Kate overcomes her fears and lays her life on the line. Will Stephen and the rest of the pack accept her once her life-long plight is at last revealed?

A high-pitched howl reached through the barrier of sleep and tugged Kate Matthews into semi-consciousness. Rolling onto her side, she groaned and smothered her head beneath her pillow. Another bay penetrated the memory-foam fabric jammed over her ears. Throwing the cushion on the other side of the bed, she flopped on her back and stared at the ceiling fan as yet another howl shattered the last vestige of sleep.
Damn it, Stephen.
Kate flung the covers off her legs, jumped from the bed, and stomped across the chilly hardwood floor to her bedroom window. Squinting in the darkness, she spotted one of her tennis shoes beside her foot and grabbed it. Armed, she jerked the window open and hurled her makeshift missile at the large, gray wolf loitering on her back lawn. The beast swerved clear of the canvas bomb at the last second.
An iridescent pop of light gave way to the human form of Stephen Dorsett. As moonlight illuminated his nude body, he gazed up at her, wearing an amused expression that pissed her off and turned her on at the same time.
“And a good morning to you, Sunshine.” His voice oozed with syrupy sweetness, infuriating her more.

An Important Announcement

I planed to break this news tomorrow, but then I remembered I have Melissa Limoges' fantastic book feature going live at 12:01 a.m. and I didn't want to steal her thunder. If you guys haven't seen the cover of her book yet, just wait. I think it's pretty cool. And she's a great writer.

This could have waited till Monday, I reckon, but I'm super-eager to share, so here it is.

The full rights for Wildwood Spring are back in my hands and this fall, it will return to an ereader near you. On top of that, it will also be coming to print, bearing an all new cover and blurb. My minions are currently hard at work with some touch-ups and getting the gears in motion. Okay, I'm the minion, but that's not important.

Wildwood Spring was my entry in the 2013 So You Think You Can Write, where it flopped spectacularly. After that, I pitched it at Breathless Press and a wonderful editor there picked it up. For whatever reason, it didn't do great, which is a crying shame, because this Victorian gothic romance is set in one of my favorite tourist towns--Eureka Springs, AR--and modeled after my favorite fairy tale, Beauty and the Beast.

Ugh. Not that kind of polish.

So here's to some polishing and a little more hard work.

No rest for the wicked.

The Good News Cup Over Floweth

Good Wednesday morning, kids.

Why am I in a great mood? Well, it has a little something to do with some exciting news I'll probably share on Friday. I've got my happy dance pants on, for sure.

It's been an exciting couple of weeks as far as writing goes. For starters, I showed you the cover for Cowboy Up 2, and it still revs my engine. For seconders, the cover for Her Heart's Surrender hit my inbox and you'll get to see it soon, I think. The edits for it are coming right along.

Thirdly, I've been working my butt off on Tell's book and it's going so well. I'm very happy with the direction it's taken. Happy enough, I think I might actually get it finished this time, which I'm sure will make my Samhain editor very happy. There is nothing better than when writing goes the way you need it to.

With the big snow and the cold temps, it was impossible getting to work. A whole week off must have been the motivation I needed to jump start the creative process. It feels good. Now if I can keep it up!

Cover Reveal - Endless as the Rain by M. S. Kaye

Endless as the Rain
Book one of the Taken series
by M.S. Kaye
When Adriane Graham discovers a city councilman is part of an embezzlement ring, she doesn't realize her life is in danger until Alec Kaden, the son of a mobster, kidnaps her—not to kill but to protect her. But why? And how does he know so much about her, right down to her favorite books? In order to find out, Adriane must get past Alec's anger and secrecy to unravel his past and find the key to her own.

The thought that was still eating at me was the possibility of rejection. I’d heard women talk about how almost any woman can get a man’s attention once, that men generally have a strong drive and will usually take most opportunities. But Alec was strong-minded. If he truly didn’t want a woman, I was certain he’d reject her.
It was a risk.
One I was willing to take.
I peeked into the hall to be certain no one was around, and then walked silently through the shadows. I turned the corner toward his room.
My mind couldn’t help but to wander. I began to see images—at first his surprise, and then understanding, and hopefully his arousal. I saw kissing and removal of clothes before lying down. I hoped he wouldn’t feel the need to talk or to ask why. I wasn’t sure I’d be able to hide my true motivations.
My feet stopped.
I couldn’t do it.
I wouldn’t trick him like that—hide the truth from him just to have what I wanted.
Only a couple feet from his door, I turned, somehow feeling pride, shame, and disappointment all in that one turn.
The click of a door opening—his door.
I managed not to jump.
I turned half way to look at him over my shoulder. “I’m sorry I woke you. I was just feeling restless.” It wasn’t a complete lie.
As I looked at him, my resolve wavered for a second. His expression was beyond kind but with a little concern—for my sanity, no doubt. He still wore his slacks and dress shirt but barefoot, and his shirt was untucked and unbuttoned. His hair was a little disheveled, and what absolutely killed me was the slight sheen of his skin, as if I’d woken him from an intense dream. His skin seemed to glow in the faint light, and his eyes took on that deep shadowed effect. Why did he have to look like that? He was perfect in every other way. Why this too?
“Is something wrong?” he asked.
So as not to seem rude, I turned to face him properly. “No. I was just restless. Please go back to sleep.” And please don’t look at me too closely.
He took a step closer. At least it was dark. I ran my fingers through my hair to casually pull it back.
He took a breath.
“Are you sure?” he said.
I crossed my arms, pretending I was cold, but really trying to hide my chest. I worried, though, that I only succeeded in creating more cleavage.
Did his eyes just flicker? No, it was too dark to see his eyes clearly.
“I’m fine,” I said, “just a little cold.” I turned to leave.
He didn’t respond, and I continued my escape. Once my door closed, I pressed my back against it, head leaned and eyes closed. My heart pounded. It shouldn’t be legal to look like that.
Faintly, I heard his door close. Then I jumped at a loud pounding sound, like someone punching a wall, and his voice, though muffled from distance. “Dammit.”
It was only maybe ten minutes later that I heard his footsteps. The sound of his shoes, no longer bare feet, quickly moved down the stairs. It was only three in the morning.
