So This Is It

It's hard to pinpoint exactly how I feel. Not as relieved as I imagined. A little sad. Happy, but sad. It's about fifty-fifty right now.

I asked for the rights back to The Convict and the Cattleman, The Wrong Brother's Bride, and Reclaiming Her Heart at the end of December. Finally, yesterday, I got the letter in the mail releasing me from Kensington's Lyrical line.

As an author (or any kind of artist who wants to share their media with the world), you wait for the moment when you hit it big. When the announcement came that Lyrical was selling to Kensington, this seemed like the break-through. Don't get me wrong, I was thrilled to sign with Samhain, a house known for its quality books. Samhain was one of my dream houses. Signing with Kensington was a huge deal. New York house for little ol' me? Awesome. You can read all about it in the January '14 posts.

Turns out I'm a bit of a Red Riding Hood. By which I mean, I got lost in the woods. Writing for the …

A Very Lawless Playlist

One of my favorite things when I got serious about writing Lawless was the music I listened to as the world unfolded. To be honest, one of the songs that really got me thinking about Lawless and a character who could be given a chance to redeem his past was Aerosmith's "Kiss Your Past Goodbye". It's a song about a hooker, sure, but it's also about redemption. That title would have made a cool tagline for the book, except I went other places with it.

I did bookmarks for Lawless and on the back instead of the blurb, I put the top five songs I listened to while writing. Here's the full list:

Kiss Your Past Goodbye - Aerosmith

Cold Hearted Man - AC/DC

Don't Cry - GNR

Dust in the Wind - Kansas

Bad Company - Bad Company

Renegade - Styx

Wheel in the Sky - Journey

Someday Never Comes - CCR

Knockin' on Heaven's Door - GNR

Stairway to Heaven - Led Zepplin

The Sound of Silence - Disturbed

Waitin' 'Round to Die - Whitney Morgan

Spirit in the Sky - Norman Greenbaum

Oh, Happy Day

It is a big week for Allison Merritt, y'all.

Lawless is available on Amazon! It's free for you lovely KU readers. It is everything you want in a paranormal historical romance (and maybe it's some things you didn't know you needed).

I got my rights back for The Heckmasters series. I am happy dancing so hard. I spent yesterday formatting the ebooks. They look fantastic. I am going to be so happy to get them back up on Amazon. For now, here are the covers, done by the fantastic artist, Annoula.

I've been waiting on this moment for about a year. It's a bittersweet moment, I can tell you that, but mostly I'm relieved to have the Heckmasters back in my possession. Especially considering yesterday would have been the one  year anniversary of Tell's book coming out. That's kind of sad, but he's home, so everything is great.

I'm having a wonderful day, so I hope you all have one as well. Smoochies!
